The Blacks Queens of Ghana will battle out in three international friendlies, against Malawi, Botswana, and Nigeria before the start of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The said fixtures form part of a larger preparation approach aimed at helping the Queens acclimate, build stronger team cohesion, and fine-tune strategies ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Black Queens will host Malawi at the Ziaida Complex in Benslimane on June 21, before taking on Botswana four days later at the same venue.
The Queens will then wrap up with a game against arch-rivals, the Super Falcons, on Friday, June 29, at the Lanouria Complex in a must-win showdown. “We want to test ourselves against different playing styles and team dynamics. Malawi and Botswana provide technical and disciplined opposition, while Nigeria offers the challenge of a traditional powerhouse,” Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren stated.
The TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on July 7 for the Black Queens, who will face defending champions South Africa in their first Group C match.
