ACCRA: GRA STOPS POLICE IN HOCKEY LEAGUE

It was the top of the table clash in the Women’s division for week -3 in the ongoing Greater Accra Sapholda hockey league.

Two unbeaten sides, defending champions GRA in the yellow jersey and Ghana Police Ladies clashed. The fast-paced game kept spectators on the edges of their seats. The first quarter produced no goal as police goalkeeper, Linda Kandoh, kept her side in the game.

In the second quarter GRA got the opener when Mavis Berko scored from a Penalty Corner on the 28th minute. The tempo of the game increased with Police soaking the pressure from GRA and relying on the counterattack. GRA’s fast-pace play paid off on the 54th minute when Ernestina Coffie scored also through a Penalty Corner, to put the game beyond the reach of Police.

They held on to carry the by two goals to zero. Captain of GRA Gertrude Inkoom praised Police for giving them a tough time. For Police Ladies captain, Evelyn Fiador, but for their missed chances they could have won.

The win keeps GRA’s 100, % record intact and clear path towards defending their trophy. For Police, the quest to reclaim the trophy is still intact. As they look to bounce back after this setback.
