ACCRA: GRA LADIES SIT TOPS OF EXTINGUISHERS WITH 2-1 WIN

The Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium came alive when the two enterprising teams faced off for the three points at stake.

GRA Ladies in the yellow and blue jersey, came into the game on the back of an impressive ten-zero win over LegonKnights, the biggest scoreline so far in the 2025 season in the lady’s division. The game drew attention from fans many of whom stayed glued to their seats. While many expected a GRA win, the quality on display lived up to its billing.

Africa top goal scorer Vivian Narkuor once again proved her class, breaking the deadlock on the 19th minute with a field goal. She doubled GRA’s lead on the 36th minute, converting a penalty corner to register her sixth goal of the season. Despite GRA’s dominance, Extinguishers’ goalkeeper Precious Osei put on a superb display, denying several attempts and keeping the scoreline respectable.

Her efforts ensured that GRA could not run riot as they often do. Extinguishers pulled one back in the fourth quarter through a penalty corner converted by Racheal Bamfo. The encounter ended two goals to one in favor of GRA. GRA midfielder Gertrude Inkoom said the encounter was tough. GRA’s Head Coach Ida Marmon Halm said their aim is to defend their league trophy.

One of the key players in the Extinguishers set up Group Officer 2, GO2, Joanita Korwu, still believes an improvement in umpiring will make the league more competitive. The win is the second in a row for GRA while Extinguishers it was their second defeat in a row.
