A crowd of jubilant fans from the Ghana Supporters Union filled the arrival hall, chanting, singing, and waving flags to welcome the national heroes. Emmanuel Abang made history by winning a world title at the event, showcasing not only his strength but the resilience of Ghana’s para-athletes on the global stage.
Although Rashad Mohammed narrowly lost in a close call, his performance was hailed as valiant and inspiring. The President of Ghana Para Boxing Federation, Abubakar Sadat, said the feat chalked up was just the beginning of good things to come.
Both athletes made a heartfelt appeal for more institutional and public support to continue their training and participate in future events. Coaches at Fit Square Gymnasium, led by head coach Lartekwei Lartey, said there are more boxers ready to make an impact on the world stage, but inadequate support is killing their dreams.
The Technical Director of the Ghana Para Boxing Federation, Mr. Emmanuel Akpabli, says they will continue to work hard to develop the sport. A leading Member of the Ghana Supporters Union Mr. Abraham Nkansah says they will keep motivating para-athletes in the country. The return of Ghana’s para boxers is not just a sporting achievement—it is a testament to determination, talent, and the enduring Ghanaian spirit.
