The clash between Legon Knights Ladies in the Black and white jersey and Ghana Army was one of the tricky contests in the women’s division in the ongoing Greater Accra Sapholda Hockey league.
Coming on the back of a heavy ten-zero defeat at the hands of experienced side, GRA Ladies in their opening fixture, Legon Knights, looked a different side. They played with confidence despite knowing the quality opposition they were playing. Army who recorded a 3-0 win in their opening fixture pushed for goals.
They scored on the 16th minute through a Penalty Corner by Eleanor Otoo. Legon Knights Ladies regrouped and kept their composure. They were resolute in defense with some good goalkeeping artistry. Legon Knights had their chances but could not execute them.
They held on the carry the day one-zero. Captain of Ghana Army Abigail Danquah said despite the win they will work on their goalscoring. For Legon Knight’s captain, Adjoa Amoah, the result showed that they are not push overs in the league.
Coach of Legon Knights Ladies, Isaac Fuseini Addo, says despite being tagged as underdogs they are in to make an impact this season. The League continues at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey stadium in Accra.
